The rationale behind economic empowerment of poor tribal women is to link these women with economic activities, improve their condition and bring them in decision making condition.
Because of increasing pressure on land, economic condition of tribal families is really bad. By linking these families with alternative means and sources of income, and by deciding role of women in these activities, condition of such families may be improved upon.
This intervention aims at improving financial condition of poor tribal families by developing their skills in non-agricultural works, improve their standard of life and bring women forward through economic programme. Under this, beneficiaries have been selected from village level women groups and village industries group and given loan from the group for their businesses. Activities have included goat rearing, poultry, grocery shop and papaya cultivation.
Active members of federation have shown great interest in grocery shop and purchase of poultry and goats. People engaged in grocery business and goat and poultry are earning good profit.
As a result of this intervention, skills and self-reliance of selected participants have increased. Extra sources of income have been created for participating families and migration has declined. Role of women in livelihood earning has increased.
