Sampark Sanstha’s nutrition initiatives in the Bhil tribal community aim to tackle widespread malnutrition, particularly among children, adolescent girls, and pregnant women. A flagship intervention is the promotion of Amrit Churna, a nutrient-rich supplement prepared from sesame, soybean, and gram. Training adolescent girls in its preparation has empowered them to care for themselves and their families nutritionally. Use of Amrit Churna has led to tangible results, with adolescent girls experiencing an average weight gain of 4–5 kg, significantly addressing anaemia and undernutrition.

To complement these efforts, 1,409 children received deworming treatment, resulting in increased appetite, reduced stomach issues, and improvements in symptoms like facial white spots and geophagy. Sampark also linked malnourished children with institutional care — 84 children were admitted to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRCs) for recovery and treatment.
Community-wide awareness campaigns on hygiene and nutrition have been impactful. Around 13,500 children participated in cleanliness drives, learning about proper handwashing and sanitation practices. These drives not only improved personal hygiene but also reduced infections and disease spread.

Adolescent health workshops reached 683 girls, of whom 30% adopted sanitary pads and 50% began consuming iron tablets, marking a significant shift in menstrual hygiene and anaemia control. Sampark also actively connects families with government schemes like the Supplementary Nutrition Program and Mangal Divas to ensure consistent access to state-supported nutrition services.
By integrating traditional knowledge with modern health practices, Sampark’s approach to nutrition is practical, sustainable, and community-rooted. The combination of direct
interventions, awareness-building, and government linkages ensures that the issue of malnutrition is tackled from multiple angles, making the program a model of holistic and participatory health development in rural tribal areas.
